Facebook

My social media project was using Facebook to promote my  photography business. I had a Facebook page started that I keep up with to post events and promotions. There were a few clients I gained from using the site, but they were more through family and friends on the list.Sadly it remains that way. There is a way to create a business or community page which I wasn't familiar with. Something else I didn't think about is that people may not search for local businesses on Facebook. When I search for a business I use Google first. I follow businesses through recommendations from friends. You have to let customers know they can follow you on social media sites using chicklets on your site. The photography sites that I found succesful used Facebook incorporate their page on their websites.I learned that Facebook is great way to network with other proffesionals in the field and have clients leave testimonials. For me this was a great learning experience. It is something I can definately put into practice today.

  2. A benefit in creating a fan page rather than just a regular "friend" page is that you can set it up to have multiple admins on it. In addition, I recently learned that there is a limit to the number of friends you can have on a friend page which is another reason that businesses use the fan page because it doesn't have a limit to the number of people that can "fan" your page.

  5. I think that having a facebook page to help promote your business is a great tool. So many people and other businesses are on the site that it helps keep you in touch with the community and allow people another avenue to communicate with you. As you mentioned though, many people do not search for local businesses on facebook, so it might be a good idea to link your regular website and your facebook page. This way it can help increase your main page ratings and also allow people to find you more easily.

  6. This is a cool idea to create a facebook page for your business. I was wondering if you did link this to your web site and vice versa using the different pictures from your business in the wall area would that maybe help generate business to you as well? Also if you friended your business to the other friends that you do have on your personal facebook site you might get more publicity out of it.
